Maiju Jouppi

Synth music for the fantasy realm!

Hi there! My name is Maiju Jouppi and I’m an electronic musician from Finland. I wish I was electronic myself, but as it turns out, flesh and bones throughout. But to compensate, I like to use electronic devices in order to depict the thoughts and moods that arise in this very human vessel. What results is playful synth music that brings to mind film and video game scores.

I’m really into films and a true nostalgic at heart. I also love adventures, big or small. And these things tend to seep into the things I make. But I have to admit, it is also my hope and intention to make music that evokes nostalgia or music that can be used as a soundtrack to you own, personal quest. And occasionally I try to make a part of a song sound like a sword is being raised victoriously and occasionally it is understood by an audience member (true story)!

My debut album Of Epic Proportions came out on Artsy Records in October 2023 (you can check it out in the Music section). At the moment I’m working on some new tunes to bring out into the world - and some stuff that's already been in my live sets for a while now but hasn't been released. In addition to my solo synth stuff, I’ve also been playing live with the Finnish indie band 1980 AD this year. I play synth and sing backing vocals using Arturia MiniBrute and effects.
